At NYP InfoSec, we organize two Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions every year in June and December. They’re a fun way for students to practice cybersecurity skills through real world challenges.
CTFs test skills across areas like cryptography, web exploitation, reverse engineering, and forensics. Each challenge simulates a real security scenario and awards points for solving it.
I was part of the organizing team, responsible for creating challenges and ensuring they were balanced and technically sound. I also helped with event publicity and outreach.
Working on the CTF deepened my understanding of cybersecurity concepts and gave me hands on experience in both offense and defense. It also showed me how competitions like this can spark real passion for the field.
